DREAMING OF TEA TIME IN PARIS

The freezing fog and difficult grey winter has rolled into Portland and I find myself daydreaming of my Parisian adventure last June. My parents and I stayed in an old family friends' apartment near Place de la Republique. We were there because I had work in Italy and they were giving a lecture in Spain the following week, how often do you win the lotto and get to travel with your folks as a grown up?

It was undeniably peachy . . . I'd stumble out to Du Pain des Idees every morning to grab an assortment of swirly, flaky, sublime pastries and we'd tuck in with tea, coffee, juice, yogurt (why is French yogurt the best thing on Earth!?) and fruits then take to museums, parks and neighborhoods. This morning ritual started us off in giggles and "oohs" and "ahs." Maybe I'll bundle in my little red shoes and nerdy backpack and head for the nearest bakery tomorrow morning.

  1. Your blog is sublime! I love this bakery and interviewed and photographed the place for my own blog. Did you know Alain Ducasse sends a driver to fetch all the bread for his restaurant at the Plaza Athénée? Divine! I live in Paris but a bit far from this bakery, but when I'm in the neighborhood I bring some goodies from this place home with me.
I'm so happy that you had the opportunity to experience one of the best bakeries in France. Have a great day, and I'll definitely add you to my list of daily reads.
