LA EATS (& WINDOW SHOPS): EAT DRINK AMERICANO & POKETO

While poking around the LA Arts District, we made two extremely fun stops: first up EAT DRINK AMERICANO for lunch. This upscale deli is full of people, laughter and beautiful sandwiches on chewy, crunchy baguettes. The whole style of black and white interiors, complete with hand lettered menu on chalkboard wall, reminded me a lot of the Portland aesthetic. All the food was served on beautiful cutting boards with a simple bit of parchment paper -- such a sweet, pretty (and easy!) idea to try at home. It was small, yet airy. I eavesdropped on all kinds of LA conversations taking place around our iddy biddy table (one of life's simple pleasures!).

After a salad (it was so-so, Dave's sandwich looked a million times better) and some lemonade, we headed a block away to POKETO. I've seen this gorgeous shop on all the blogs and read about it in a few magazines as well -- For me it seemed a lot like the LA version of my favorite shop in the world, Alder & co. A handsome selection of curated items, a lot of them made locally, dotted the cool saw-horse tables. The book and magazine selection was extra good -- I could have leafed through all the current issues of my fav quarterlies and watched the day go by . . . Poketo is the perfect spot to buy a special gift for a friend (or yourself if you're feeling it!). The place has great vibes and is a wonderful spot along the way to visiting art galleries and Little Tokyo.
