THE HIP SANTA BARBARA: THE FRENCH PRESS

I first encountered Bryan Foehl, the pastry chef at The French Press, while he was helping run an outdoor dinner on the bluffs of the sea in Morro Bay. He seemed excited and into every bit of the eating experience, from the appetizers to the sweets. Now I'm hooked on his light and lovely pastry, served daily at my favorite Santa Barbara coffee shop . . .

Another reason to indulge at the French Press is their cosmic tea scene -- they make their own chai concentrate, full of spice and real body, and they have a "magic bowl", a sweet mixture of honey, chamomile tea and steamed soy milk. Both beverages warm the belly and the soul! The perfect foil for one of these glorified pop tarts (called hand pies and covered in sprinkles, stuffed with homemade strawberry jam!). Any poison you pick here, you will be met with delicious fluffiness!

  1. Holy guacamole! Beautiful photos. I already pinned the French Press photo, my favourite, but they are all very inspiring.
