LOCAL EATS: REGENERATIVE FARMS IN CARPINTERIA

A couple of months ago, I had the chance to photograph a permaculture-based Regenerative Earth Farm, in Carpinteria, just down the road from Santa Barbara -- the sun was blazing and the characters who make this place tick were as sweet and golden as the rays beaming down upon us as I toured their lively land.

Part of the operation includes a small creamery where cocousins Makaila and Ana work together to create delicious feta and goat cheeses. These two babes were bustin their butt to make these gorgeous cheeses come together, even while pregnant! Hard work, great cheese and a lot of laughter -- it was a joy to peek into their work world.

The farm was purchased just in the past year and this multigenerational family is coming together to make the business and fruits/veggies be as productive as possible, embracing the natural eco system, caring for each other and sharing/recycling surplus. The land is so so beautiful and they will be offering tours in the near future!
